Citroen Metropolis – Futuristic Hybrid

 

This plug-in hybrid limousine concept car was designed by an international team from Citroen exclusively for the prestigious Shanghai World Fair.
Dubbed Metropolis, the vehicle is 5.3 meters long, 2 meters wide and 1.4 meters high.
The eco-friendliness of the vehicle is found in its ability to emit carbon dioxide in an extremely small amount, only 70g/km.
It is worth mentioning that the Metropolis has a 2-liter, V6 petrol engine combined with an electric motor able to develop 70kW.
The V6 petrol engine of Citroen Metropolis is accompanied by a 7-speed gearbox. It has the ability to generate 272bhp (200kW).
The driver can use the car’s conventional engine at normal speeds while driving on main roads and motorways, while the electric engine is required to boost the vehicle’s power to 460bhp (345kW), which is nearly the power of a 4-liter V8 petrol engine.
The electric motor automatically turns on when the Metropolis runs at low speeds. Besides, you can turn on a four-wheel mode if you drive on a slippery road.
One more specific feature of Citroen Metropolis is its “Pearl Silk” body that changes color based on light conditions.
